In 1950, North and South Korea begin their war, "By 1950, the conflicts on the border of North and South Korea led to the beginning of the Korean War."
Soon after they began the "Korean War", the North Koreans send their troops to invade South Korea, "On June 25, 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea and almost immediately the United Nations member states began to send aid to South Korea."
After the following event, the UN sends our troops over and fight the North Koreans in battle, "By October though, U.N. forces were able to again move the fighting north and on October 19, North Korea's capital,Pyongyang was taken."
The North Korean's ally, the Chinese joins the Korean War and forces the UN to back off of North Korea, "In November, Chinese forces joined North Korean forces and the fighting was then moved back south and in January 1951, South Korea's capital, Seoul was taken."
Finally after many months of battle, the North and South Korea made an agreement to not to fight anymore, "In the months that followed, heavy fighting ensued but the center of the conflict was near the 38th parallel. Although peace negotiations began in July of 1951, fighting continued throughout 1951 and 1952. On July 27 1953, peace negotiations ended and the Demilitarized Zone was formed."

This article is about the current crisis between North and South Korea, "North Korea has fired artillery shells onto a South Korean island across its disputed western maritime border, injuring civilians, soldiers and property."
Not only that but the South Koreans didn't show any mercy at the North Koreans so, "South Korea has returned fire and raised its military alert to its highest non-wartime."
This crisis between North and South Korea started way back in 1910 when the Japanese first took over the Korean Peninsula, "Tensions go back to the manner in which the victorious allies determined the division of the Korean Peninsula. Japan annexed Korea in 1910 and ruled over it until 1945."
Because of this crisis is finally ending the UN has declared that both Koreas are divided, " The Korean War ended with the UN declaring the Korean peninsula divided between North and South between the Soviet Union and China on one hand and the US on the other."
Even though North Korea never signed a treaty with South Korea , they made an agreement to, "The US ended the war in a ceasefire agreement at more or less the same boundary, with South Korea making slight territorial gains. The two countries never signed a peace treaty, the two Koreas remain technically at war, since no peace treaty was signed after the conflict."

In an article called the Telegraph states, "North Korea and South Korea have been involved in a number of skirmishes since the 1950-1953 war, which ended in an armistice rather than a formal peace treaty."
Since North and South Korea never signed a treaty, throughout the years North Koreans still gave the South Koreans a air-raid as the Telegraph says, "North Korean commandos stage a raid on Seoul's presidential Blue House in an attempt to assassinate President Park Chung-Hee. They are stopped just 800 metres (yards) away. All 32 are killed or captured in subsequent days."
On November 10, 2009, the North and South Koreans started a submarine battle near the Yellow Sea border as a result, "Navies of the two sides exchange fire near the Yellow Sea border. Seoul officials say a North Korean patrol boat retreated in flames but its casualties are unknown. No South Koreans are hurt."
As a result of North and South Korea fighting each other so much, "South Korea suspends trade with the North and bans its ships from Seoul's waters."
Even on the border lines, the North Korean soldiers shoot at the South Korean's border island for example, "North Korea fires artillery shells onto a South Korean border island, prompting an exchange of fire with southern troops along with casualties and property damage," Stated the officials and reporters.

I believe

I believe that policemen abuse their powers.
I believe we should have rights to do whatever we want and no one can stop us.
I believe in freedom.
I believe the drinking age should be 18 in California.
I believe in gay marriage.
1. I chose this topic because I'm Korean and I think I should write something about my culture and learn more about it.

2.I know that N. Korea and S. Korea are divided.and they never signed an armstands

3.I want to learn more about the conflict between North and South Korea and lean how it started.

4.I really want to know the lifestyle of North Korea and how a North koreans live their lives.

5. I think my mine challenge would be interviewing a North Korean person in America.
